Sumo wrestle

Sumo wrestle

Video Transcript

Hi guys!

I have wonderful news for you! In this lesson, we will get our robots to fight! Of course, this activity requires at least two (2) robots. If you only have one (1), you should be with a friend who also has an Edison.

As we have said, Edison has a line tracking sensor and an obstacle detection sensor. With these sensors he can detect black lines and other objects in its path.

The barcode that you can find in the companion document “Resources” with the title “Sumo Wrestle” activates the corresponding program.

Now, let’s put Edison scan the barcode:

We place the robot on the right side, pointing at the barcode that it is going to scan...

We press the record button, which is round, three times.

Edison will move straight ahead and will scan the barcode. Remember that all Edison robots we will use must scan the barcode.

Perfect! We have activated the “Sumo Wrestle” program for all our robots! Let the battle begin!

To have the battle, of course, we need a wrestling ring! We can use the Edison track!

It is called EdMat and you can print it from the next section of this lesson.

There is always the option to make our ring:

We can take a black insulating tape, 1.5cm wide, and stick it on a flat surface.

It would be best if our ring has a diameter of about 40 cm, in order to have enough space for our robots.

So we put the two (2) Edison robots in the ring and press the play buttons of both robots at the same time.

Each Edison moves slowly and searches for the opponent.

If it detects the opponent, it moves quickly towards it and pushes it up to the limits of the ring.

If it wins, it changes direction and continues to look for another opponent.
