Clap controlled driving SE

Video Transcript

Hello kids.

The time to drive Edison has finally come!

How do we do that? Just by clapping!

As we have said, Edison has a sound sensor. With this sensor, it can “hear” loud noises, such as clapping.

The barcode titled as “Driving with Clapping” which can be found in the

Accompanying document titled as “Resources”, activates the program titled as “Driving with Clapping”.

Edison with the help of the sound sensor -that we simply call a microphone, receives this sound.

The program “tells” Edison what to do when this happens. Specifically, if the sound is one clap, the robot will turn right. If the sound is two claps, then it will go ahead for a while, and then it will stop.

Now, let’s make Edison read the barcode:

We place the robot on the right side, pointing to the barcode that the robot is going to read...

We press the record button, which is round, three times. Edison will move straight ahead and will scan the barcode.

Great! We have activated the “Driving with Clapping” program! Now let’s go now and drive our robot!

We place Edison on a smooth surface and press the play button, which is a triangle. If we clap our hands near Edison it will turn to the right. We try to clap our hands twice close to the robot. It will go straight for about 30 centimeters and then it will stop.

Edison may have a difficulty “listening” to our clapping. In that case we can try to hit it with our finger gently.

Let’s play  with Edison a bit..
