Hi guys!

As we have seen, Edison can play music!

So, it’s time to put it on the stage and have him play music for us!

As soon as the lights of the stage fall on him, it will play one of our songs. Of course, to make all this happen, we must write a program.

This program needs the operation of Edison’s buzzer and light sensors.

Do you remember Edison’s buzzer? It is located next to the sound sensor.

With the buzzer, Edison can play simple sounds like a beep or musical notes.

Edison also has two light sensors, on the right and the left.

With those sensors, our robot can detect the light and understand where it comes from.

Let’s make a program that makes Edison play music when it detects light.

This time, we want Edison to detect light only from one side.

So, we must cover the other side with a dark tape or a piece of cardboard.

Using the EdBlocks app, we create the following program.

First, the program tells to the robot to wait for 5 seconds.

Then, it tells the robot to play a tune when it detects light on one side.

Attention: Here, we have covered the right side of the robot (so we made Edison wait for the light to come from the left side.)

If you cover the left side, you should make Edison look for the coming light from the right side.

Let’s see what Edison will do...

We can dress up Edison for a performance in the spotlight.

With some cardboard or a tape, we block Edison’s one side.

Then, we make a costume with craft supplies.

Of course, the costume should cover only one side and leave uncovered the three buttons of our robot.

Once we have our costume, we download the program to Edison and press the play button.

We put Edison in a dark place...

Once the light falls on it, it will play our tune!
